Prepare For an Emergency
The Florida Department of Emergency Services has put together a toolkit to assist you in preparing for an emergency financial situation.
Financial Aid Impact Due To A Natural Disaster
Below is information you might find helpful in the event of a natural disaster:
Date Changes
Go to financial aid dates for specific date changes as a result of a natural disaster.
Withdrawing from Classes
Before deciding to withdraw from a class, please check with your instructor to work out a plan to get caught up. If you decide to withdraw, check with an Academic Advisor and a Financial Aid Counselor to determine how the withdrawal will affect you.
Student Assistance Program
Counseling and other types of referrals for assistance are available at Student Assistance Program.
Loss of Income
If you have had a substantial loss of income or a job loss due to a natural disaster, a Financial Aid Administrator can review the financial information that determines your financial aid eligibility for possible adjustment(s) due to a change with your financial circumstances. If you already have a full Pell Grant or zero Expected Family Contribution, we will review your documents, but might not be able to make any adjustments.
SAP Appeals
If you have experienced extenuating circumstances beyond your control including extraordinary or emergency circumstances such as a natural disaster and are not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) at the end of the current term, you may submit a SAP Appeal. Make sure to include date-specific documentation from a disinterested third party. Approval is not guaranteed.
