Like so many people throughout Pinellas County, the faculty, staff, and students at St. Petersburg College suffered enormous impacts from hurricanes Helene and Milton. In response to the human toll created by these storms, the SPC Foundation set up a hurricane relief fund.
Today, the St. Petersburg College Foundation is pleased to announce that our long-time partner, Duke Energy, has made a $10,000 donation to the fund. Duke Energy’s Government and Community Relations Manager, Jeff Baker, was moved by stories of hardship suffered by faculty and students living at the flooded Standard Apartments in Clearwater.
“I’m certain that the fantastic leadership team of St. Petersburg College is going above and beyond to help those affected by the hurricanes, including the Titans living at the Standard Apartments,” said Baker. “The College has been a great partner for Duke Energy throughout the recent storms, and we wanted to show our appreciation and support by making this $10,000 investment in the people who need it the most.”
Jesse Turtle, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at SPC, said Duke Energy’s gift, along with countless others, will make a difference for Titans most impacted by the damage caused by the two storms.
“We are so grateful to Duke Energy and to everyone who has come together to support our students, faculty, and staff during these challenging times,” said Turtle. “Duke Energy’s remarkable gift gives our community the boost it needs to continue to learn and grow.”
