Meet Titus the Titan
In mythology, the Titans were a family of giants who ruled the earth. Today, Titans are those who stand out for the greatness of their achievements. At SPC, we prepare people for greatness so that they can go on to be titans in their fields, hence our mascot, the Titan. Now our Titan has a face and a name. Meet our new SPC mascot, Titus!
Though a mascot is a big part of promoting athletics, it's also a manifestation of school spirit that connects the crowd and the team and is a source of pride to students. Studies show that students who are involved in extracurricular activities are more likely to be academically successful and more likely to graduate.
"The more opportunities for scholarships and involvement that we can offer students, the more students we can reach," said SPC President Dr. Tonjua Williams. "There is all kind of research out there that shows that students who are engaged in the college experience are more successful in the classroom."
Titus got his name in a "Name the Titan" contest held on social media in Fall 2018. Out of more than 4,000 votes with 1,100 different submissions, there was one clear winner: Titus.
So if you see Titus at a campus or sporting event, make sure to give him a high-five, take a selfie and post it on social media with #spctitans.
