HOW TO APPLY STEP BY STEP

SPC offers a variety of degree options for F1 Visa students. If you are not a U.S. Citizen and you want to study in the U.S., please follow these steps.

It only takes 20-30 minutes to submit your application and you can use the Google Translates feature. You will be notified by email once it has been processed (usually within 10 business days). You can pay the non-refundable $40 application fee in U.S. currency by credit card, debit card, check or money order after your application has been processed.

  1. Statement of Financial Ability Form
  2. Official bank statement or official bank letter:
    • Document must be in English or accompanied by a certified English translation
    • Must be dated less than 6 months before the term begins
    • Must specify current available balance for withdrawal and currency code
    • Available balance must be equal or greater to the Statement of Financial Ability form's estimated budget for the program you are applying to. If you plan to bring dependents, you must show an additional $5,000 USD per dependent.

Documents must be readable and in good quality. All applicants must submit:

  • Copy of valid passport (cannot be expired)

If you are currently in the United States, you will need to submit:

  • Copy of visa
  • Copy of I-94 (You can find this form electronically by going to https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov)
  • Copy of I-20 pages 1,2,3 (This is required for students currently on an F-1 or F-2 visa)
  • Copy of DS-2019 (This is required for students currently on a J visa status)

Students must have earned a high school diploma (or equivalent) to be degree-seeking at St. Petersburg College. If you earned an education outside the U.S. we require an official (unopened) transcript evaluation by a current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) in place of international transcript.

English proficiency is required for degree-seeking applicants from countries where English is not an official primary language. Acceptable proof includes:

1 - SAT/ACT scores dated within the last two years

  • 24 or higher on reading (SAT Redesign-Concordance)
  • 19 or higher on reading subtest AND 17 or higher on English subtest on ACT

2 - Applicable transfer coursework from a regionally accredited college/university in the United States which qualifies you to take ENC 1101 (Composition I) or higher

3 - St. Petersburg College's Placement Test - Students will be provided instructions after the application has been processed.
