Out-of-State Tuition Waivers for military members and veterans

St. Petersburg College is known for the service it gives to those who serve our country. At SPC, veterans and active duty military members will find several opportunities to help fund their education, from scholarships to waivers that waive out-of-state tuition. 

Active Duty Military

If proper documentation is provided before the first day of classes, you are considered a Florida resident for tuition purposes if you are an:

  • Active duty member of the Armed Services of the United States, stationed in Florida (includes spouse and eligible dependent children)
  • Active military personnel not stationed in Florida but home of record is Florida (includes spouse and eligible dependent children)
  • Active drilling member of the Florida National Guard

Residency Affidavit and copy of military orders is required.NOTE: An individual shall not lose his or her resident status solely because of his or her service or parent's service in the Armed Forces outside the state of Florida.

Veterans

Veterans of the U.S. Armed Services are considered Florida residents for tuition purposes if they have been discharged from active duty service for less than one year. A Residency Affidavit and discharge papers showing Florida as the home of record at the time of discharge is required.

Veterans discharged for more than one year must prove residency for tuition purposes according to instructions detailed in this worksheet.
