Candidates for Graduation

Graduate candidates will receive graduation information via their SPC email accounts approximately 4-6 weeks after the semester begins. If you haven't received any updates and expect to graduate before the end of the semester, please contact your academic advisor to confirm your graduation.

Graduating from SPC

Your official transcript will reflect that you have completed all requirements for your degree when you graduate. You are not required to submit an application for graduation. If you enroll for the term, you will be evaluated for the program you are currently pursuing, as well as any corresponding degrees or certificates.

The SPC Records Office will formally confer your degree and attest that all graduation requirements have been fulfilled after final grades are certified at the end of the term. Generally, 10 business days after the semester ends, transcripts reflecting degrees and certificates are generated. To confirm that your degree or certificate was issued, please use MYSPC to check your official transcript. Order your official transcript from the National Clearinghouse when you see the conferral date and degree awarded. If you believe you should be graduating, please check with your academic advisor.

Please Note:

  • Final responsibility for meeting graduation requirements rests with you, the student.
  • It is strongly advised that you have a meeting with your advisor before your final semester to go over your records and make sure you will fulfill all graduation requirements. Log in to MySPC via the Titan Hub to see your progress, for a summary of your academic progress, click My Academics.
  • All correspondence pertaining to commencement and graduation is delivered to your MySPC email address. Make sure you regularly check your SPC email for any new information.

Reverse Transfer
This is a unique process of awarding an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree retroactively to SPC students who transferred to a four-year institution before completing the A.A. Reverse transfer allows you to combine the credits you have earned at your current school with those you previously earned at SPC and retroactively be awarded an Associate of Arts degree.

Eligibility
If you are a prior SPC student who earned 30 or more credits hours towards an A.A. degree while enrolled at the college, you may qualify for Reverse Transfer. To have the A.A. awarded, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Left SPC in good academic standing
  • Currently enrolled at a four-year institution
  • Have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours at all colleges attended
  • Have not yet earned a bachelor’s degree
  • Satisfied the Florida Civic Literacy requirement
  • Completed two years of foreign language in high school or a minimum of 6 credits of in college. Courses taken must be sequential and in the same language.

Benefits
Having your A.A. degree awarded through Reverse Transfer gives you a recognized and meaningful credential which immediately increases your ability to get a job and for earning a raise. Completing an associate degree can yield significantly more pay than entering college and not earning a degree. Additionally, research has shown you are more likely to persist and complete your bachelor’s degree if you have already earned a degree.
